California just passed a new law for driver licenses. Undocumented immigrants can now obtain a driver licenses. Gov. Brown states this will make driving in California safer.
The driver license cannot be used for anything else but driving, it is not an identification document.
I was wondering if there was an accident, do one need an interpreter to exchange required documents by state law?
Some other questions will they be required to drive the speed limit instead of the slow roll, and will they be required to check before making a lane change
As a fellow who has travel as well as lived in Mexico this really P*&^s me off - not only are they here "illegal" but they expect to get treatment foreigners/non-Mexican citizens are denied in Mexico - one can get a Mexican drivers license "IF" you can pass the written test that is in Spanish "ONLY" and it is good only as long as you tourist/residence papers are - they expire at the same time.

I've only known a dozen or so mexicans over the years and I won't judge the entire society by those few but every one of them turned out to be dishonest, liars...thieves...just couldn't be trusted. Even the one mexican girl I knew screwed me...just sayin'

Ha! Ha! Ha! Gov. Brown wouldn't be a liberal would he? No wonder California has problems. The whole country is sick. How easy can we make it for them? How about free insurance and a Hertz rental with pom-poms, hydraulic lifters and a gas card for as long as they like. Big agriculture wants all the pickers they can get. Illegals might need licenses to drive that farm equipment.
Or maybe it's a trap. When they show up they get arrested and shipped back to Tijuana. Why would you need a license to drive a donkey cart anyway?

Isn't that was what she was supposed to do? I hope you were in line BEFORE the donkey.
This is a good article but I did not find anything that pertains to getting a Mexican drivers license - I refer back to my post from a few minutes ago - Oh - you also have to have your blood type for your license - if not they have a very unsanitary blood testing procedure in the office.
If flying in and renting a car your valid drivers license from your home state is valid - BUT- BUY Mexican insurance it is not too expensive. If driving in you can buy it online and have it when you get to the border - I bought from Sanborns - kind of like Mexican AAA - maps road service and all.

There are good and bad in every society. Seems you really need to associate with a better class of friends and associates or maybe this bad experience you have had was triggered by your attitude toward others. Pre-judging everyone from a country by a limited exposure to the dregs of that society is tantamount to RACIAL PROFILING. We have Barbera Bachmann and Jeffrey Dalmer and they sure are no paramount examples of Americans.
