Does any one have any experience with this lens? There are no reviews on B&H. I think I forgot to mention that the lens in question is thew Nikor 18-140 3.5/5.6 G VR

I have not used it however it is a f5.6 at 140mm lens, which is a bit on the slow side. No make that a lot on the slow side. If you are happy with a f5.6 lens then I would suggest paying a bit more for the 18-200mm VR. This is a well regarded lens for crop cameras.

The fact is I would prefer a 2.8 but I don.t have the money. ( my wife would kill me if I spent 2 grand on a lens )

So go for the 18 - 200 Nikkor. Price is not much more and a much more versatile lens.

And don't tell your wife. Sheez ....

Sounds like a better choice. I do most of my shooting at F8 or 11 any way. If I find myself in low light I will use flash. Not ideal but an acceptable compromise. Thank for the help

You will find it a much better choice. The 18-200 VR Nikkor is a great lens. What camera do you have?

Oliver.

It just came out.
I doubt anyone here has used it.
As stated, it's a bit on the slow side.

So put your foot down. Most women spend more than that on shoes and make up.

I agree, Terra. I used the 18-200 on my D7000 for a long time. I now have the 18-300 & I love both of those lenses. Even though I have the D800, I still love my D7000.

I might be interested in selling the 18-200. It's in perfect condition. I probably still have the box, hood, etc. Let me know if you're interested in buying. I also have a new, never used 18-105 in the box, hood, etc.

You also need to think about which camera body you're using and your intended output. On a 12MP body, the 18-200 will probably out-resolve the sensor. On a 24MP body, the sensor will out-resolve the lens making the lens the limiting factor in sharpness. But unless you're printing big, you'll probably never notice. I used to own the 18-200 and it is very handy.

probably going to put it on a d7000. But going to wait about 2 months or so to try and catch the Christmas discounts ( money is a factor)
