i saw this woodpecker on the suet feeder really chowing down on the peanut butter stuff..i think he is a downy, but maybe he's a hairy?

Thanks for sharing. I love photographing birds too but most of the ones I shoot at my bird feeder aren't good enough to post. Anyway, I know you didn't ask for confirmation but think it's a downy as well. As you probably know, the downy has a small bill vs a large bill on the hairy. Otherwise they are almost identical. It's hard to tell from this photo.

Very nice! I think he's a downy; the hairy's have a little "point" on the back of their heads, and their feathers look a bit rougher.
