Replacement Batteries

A month or so ago Adorama had a sale and I ordered 2 replacement batteries for my Sony A550 and A77 (both use the same batteries). I have noticed that the batteries quickly lose their charge (I have both Sony and Maxell batteries) even when the cameras are sitting idle. So extras couldn't hurt. They were under the "Flashpoint" name which I believe is Adorama's proprietary brand name. At $8 a piece how could I go wrong. Of course they were not in stock and I got regular reminders to buy something else. I finally got a notice today that my batteries are on the way. This is the long way of asking if anyone has had any experience with Flashpoint batteries or any non-OEM brands.

I use Wasabi batteries as spares and get them through BLUE NOOK.
Very satisfied with Blue Nook and the batteries. Sorry do not have the link handy..just google it.
Amazon also has a million Wasabi products but Blue Nook so far so good.

Some cheap aftermarket batteries (Chinese) will only measure 40% capacity of a manufacturer's battery. I measured a Wasabi Olympus battery at about 40% on a professional battery analyzer. Beware!

Well, I am no pro battery whiz, but got almost the same amount of shots with the Wasabi on both cameras. The battery business is the biggest ripoff..where do the big companies have their batteries made..Really...
To pay over a hundred dollars if I remember..close anyway ..for a battery for my 7 d is nonsense...also up here in Quebec we have a 15 % tax...a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...

I am not familiar with 'Flashpoint' batteries, but I have bought 'no brand' Chinese batteries on ebay for years, for Nikon, JVC, & Canon, with no issues. They are much cheaper, & they seem to last about the same as 'genuine' batteries. Just my experience.

I have the genuine Sony batteries for my a200 & a57 and they definitely last longer than the copies but the copies are good enough for me as back ups.

I've had very good luck with Wasabi and almost as much with Digipower, not much luck with the no-name brands. But nothing works like my OEM batteries, both Oly and Canon. They are expensive but they are better.

Yes...I've bought flashpoint and use a few of them right now.

Also Wasabi and several other non-OEM brands.

For the slight amount of cash, they fit my needs...if I lose one, I'm not out 65.00 and if they die...I'm not heartbroken.

I just got an A77 on Wednesday. I hope the battery will last for a while (until I can get a spare). I have 3 batteries for my A330, which I intend to sell somehow. What's the best way to sell a camera? I was thinking of trading it in for credit on a lens at somewhere like B+H or putting it on eBay (neither of which I've ever attempted). any suggestions?

How about trying this site and you could join the dyxum.com forum which specializes in Alpha mount stuff and also has a buy/sell section.

Don't wait too long to get that back up battery especially if you leave the GPS function on and you use the main display for shooting - they will eat up your battery.

Over three years ago I replaced an early model Pentax DSLR with my current K10D. I admit that I am no where near as erudite as many UHH members so I will not beat around the bush. I Bought three GT Max "Battery Packs" for Two bucks a piece. (The replaced camera used AA's). That's correct $6.00 total. To date they have never let me down, I always carry a spare, and show on a charger, at full charge right on the required 7.4V. Every so often we Texans, like a blind hog, find an acorn.

You have some gang busters camera retailers down town. I recall a fun shop to visit under the "L" behind Marshall Fields.

I have used non-brand batteries for a while with no problem at all. They last the same and when they die or lost, no problem at all. I purchased batteries from ADORAMA "Flashpoint" the price was like getting them for nothing compared to the Canon prices. Canon $50.00 Flashpoint on sale $8.00, not a real mind tester for sure. I have the Rebel 1100D T3
