Aotearoa (NZ) beats Oracle (USA) by 1min 6secs having achieved a speed of 44 knots (50mph, 81kmh).
Score: NZ 6 - USA minus 1
6 down, 3 to go.
NZ seems to be developing an advantage, even though Oracle's crew of 11 contained only one national (American) sailor, Rome Kirby. It also contains 2 New Zealanders. If it contained 11. . .
Mike.
If it contained 11. . ...??
What would have been different?
Don't rub it in... :( NZ is looking very good, though. They can certainly make speed on the up-wind leg.

Good thought. There's still the boat design eh?
Mike
NZ has this catamaran sailing down to an art. We have a lot of catching up to do, literally and figuratively.

Yes... apparently. The NZ boat is really good... Don't think there is that much difference in the crews or what actions they take. So, it must be the superior boat from NZ that is making this a one-boat race.
As a last resort we can always claim they cheated! lol
The British would say they were just rude to come over here and beat us !
