Ioptron sky tracker

Have never used any type of tracker before,Does anyone here know anything about this equipment?Ioptron 3302w for about $400.00 am I wasting my time and money on something like this,Would never figure out how to use the big boys toys,Thanks in advance for any ideas or comments,Bill

Also I'm using a canon 7d and 10x22 lens.

I've had my eye on one of these. It's well reviewed. Put the Ioptron on a decent tripod, put a DSLR on it with a lens in the 50 to 120 mm range, get a cheap intervalometer, and you should be able to get a series of images that you can then put into stacking software to get some nice images. Mastering the stacking software is probably the biggest challenge. The entire setup is easily transportable to a dark sky location. Santa's annual visit is getting closer...

Thanks straight shooter for the reply,I have already made up my mind one of them is going to be mine soon,seen several good reviews on different sites and nothing bad.

I have it, use it, and love it. I don't like star trails but long exposures reveal galaxies and nebulae unseeable without collecting light for a longer time.

Now, add the CamRanger to really get into astrophotography first class.

Thanks profpb,I already have a CamRanger and thought about how the would work,Glad you confirmed it for me.
