I am looking at buying an 18-200 lens for my Canon T2i and considering Canon, Sigma and Tamron. I'd appreciate some feedback and guidance about this choice or other thoughts. I do mostly nature, widlife, and scenics.
I use the Tamaron 18-200. I bought it after a shoot where my longer lens (Sony 75-300) was just too long and, simultaneously too short for the Canyon shots I was doing. The Tamaron is my "Goldilocks" lens. They also make a 18-250 which I have not tried and is a little more pricey, but it seemed like overkill to me.
I just saw that UHG members have these for sale: Canon 70-200 offered by "rangerfan" and Tamaron 18-250 by "JayT"
canon first, tamrom second
I have the Tamron 28-300...newest version
I have a Tamron 18-270 and it never comes off of my camera. I have a new Canon L 24-105 and haven't noticed much difference.
I have been using a Nikon 18-200 which is one hell of a lens but I find that I almost always use the wider portion of this magnificent piece of glass. I had to do it over, I think I'd choose the Nikon 17-55 f2.8 for the speed and build quality.
I'd also check the reviews at cameralabs.com
Have the Tamron 18-270mm PZD and the only other lens I carry in my bag is a fixed Nikon 50mm 1.4. I had a Nikon 18-200 which I sold to buy the Tamron and never regreted it......
It is rare that my Tamron 28-200 comes off. AF is quick and quiet.
Personally, I think that's too large a range. Tamron lenses are ok, but imho: buy the Canon first, and only use the Tamron for the occasional "odd" lens
