Can anyone tell me what kind of bird this is? A couple of months ago it perched in the corner of our screen porch all night for a couple of weeks.

Could it be a baby Eastern Screech Owl?

It does look like a small raptor. Most owls sleep during the day and fly at night.

I know and I thought it was odd. Maybe a red tailed hawk.

Without at least a few more details, this is going to be just a guessing game. It is hard to estimate size but as a retired carpenter the molding to the birds right appears to be "Brick Mold" which is only about 1 1/4' wide making this a very small bird. That eliminates nearly all of the raptors as they would be considerably larger than this by the time it had sufficient feathers to fly. The Screech owl has a very short tail, so I think that can be ruled out.

The Rufous color and the narrow banding as well as the length of the tail and the overall size suggests one of the wrens, perhaps Carolina or House.

But, as I have already said, this is just a guess!

Thanks for your info, but I think it is much too big to be a wren. It was at least 6 inches in length. I'll keep researching. Thanks again.
