Still calling myself a beginner after 2 years, but thought I would try light painting. Surprising it looks harder than it is. I was amazed at the results.
Awesome!! I just bought sparklers a few weeks ago with the intention of trying this out. WHat did you use? Could you describe the process a bit! Your pics look cool! Thanks!

Thank you Alissaspieces for your comments. I tried sparklers first, didn't have great success, but it was my first attempt. I found they shed more light than I wanted and you could see all around them. I was going for the black background. For these photos, I had small led flashlights, and covered one in red cellophane. My daughter did the patterns and words. I set my camera on Manual, and set shutter to "bulb" I found a low iso worked best, 200 for these. Aperture was 5. I have added one of my first attempt with the sparklers. I also found one of my led flashlights far too bright, the cellophane covered one worked best. Hope this works for you. Others here may have more or better ideas.

I love the perfect circles...well done and yes it is hard. I had a modicum of luck using kiddie party favors from the Dollar Store. All kinds of light gizmos although not all stores carry the same stuff. These were a pack of four separate little finger led lights ,red, green, yellowish and blue, with attached elastic and you wore them like a ring...so you could do one colour or a combination. They lasted a surprisingly long time...lot of fun for a buck.
If I remember, these were about a 5 second exposure...focusing etc, done ahead and tripod of course. Twirled the lights behind the glasses.
The rainbow fluorescent wands, and the fluorescent bracelets are funky too.
