I really appreciate the aircraft ID,it sounds like you know your airplanes.Allow me a little test,do you recognize the rare birds at the enclosed photo?
Thanks.

Dirtpusher you keep impressing me.You are correct,it is a Bristol Freighter 170, the last flying one out of 214 made.
It does not fly any more (it ended in a museum in Alberta) but it used to haul golden ore concentrate between a Bronson Creek gold mine,B.C.,Canada and this little town.It was operated by Hawkair which owned the last three Bristols Freighters and lost two due to crashes.I flew with the last one for over a year as a photographer and loved every minute of it.
You are right about the clam shell nose door.Imagine one take off when the copilot forgot to secure the clam shell door and both halves flew open to be eaten up by the giant propellers.
You did not elaborate on the white plane, would you give it a try? Hint: there were only 18 of them configured like that.
Thanks.
Approaching Wrangell,Alaska with a joad of golden ore.

Nice pics. Amsterdam, as I recall, is the only international airport below sea level.

By golly you are right again,I do not belive it!!! Not too many people could ID one of these obscure planes, not to mention both of them.Hats off to you.....
I flew in the Carvair as well but the Bristol was my favorite.
The Canadian pilots had the "right stuff" and they let me open the Bristol`s escape hatch in flight to photograph the tail with mountains in the background.Everytime I flew with them I was thinking "if I die now I will die as a happy man".Then the gold mine closed down and the dream was over....
