A small rant about rudeness here.

I joined about a year ago, I think. For the most part I have noticed nice, helpful and friendly comments on the forums. It should not surprise me that in a public space (UHH) we would often run into people that are out right mean, rude, and hateful, but sometimes it does.
I try to be extra cautious about what my comments say because it's easy to misinterpret meanings online. I don't ever want to hurt someone's feelings, come off as mean or rude, and mostly I do not ever what to appear like I'm insulting someone.
I think it might bother me even more when I see someone chastise the "mean, rude and hateful". People like that don't care what you think or feel so you just lower yourself to their level. I've seen people blame on the part of the world that person comes from. Now that is getting into insulting an entire race for the bad judgment and poor choices of an individual.
I wish that if people have nothing helpful to say in a respectful way, that they would just not participate. I've had my feelings hurt by a few people on here. I don't blame their countries, their race, or anyone else. I just remind myself that those comments that are hurtful or rude, need to be ignored.
I do want to thank all the people who are kind and helpful to what might seem like a stupid question from a beginner. Pro or beginner, if the question seems "stupid" to you, don't answer. Maybe someone is just asking to start a conversation on a subject of interest.
Thank you for reading this. Sorry for the rant and the long windedness. Happy shooting!
Well written Sue.
Thank you. The forum is a microcosm of the world. We would do well to remember that. My mother always said that if you just ignore it/them, it/them would go away. My mother was wrong! :mrgreen
Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you ...
not because they are nice, but because you are.

No, they don't go away, but we don't have to let them ruin our day. :)

No, this is NON photo chat
Every once in a while some one blows off about this. It's not nearly as bad as it was some time ago. The Admn FINALLY stepped in and booted out a few. However there are still some around. But thankfully that language has cleared up.
When i first noticed rudeness etc on this forum I started what I call my Jerk List; when I see a post by someone on my jerk list I ignore it all together. Life here has been a whole lot better for me since I've done this.
Long ago, I drove a cab for a living in the Chicago area. I learned that if you remain polite, rvrn to the rudest jerks, you can shame them into at least shutting up. Out nice them and they don't know how to respond.
Don't get me wrong. I love a good argument, but I try to keep it civil.

I can ignore and get over the stuff aimed at me, but what prompted me to start this thread was comments aimed at another poster. I felt bad for that person. I am over that now too (until the next time). :)
I once told a prison inmate that he should think of disrespect from another as a gift. If you refuse a gift, it belongs to the giver. He said I changed his life. LOL!
