An interview with larry4050
1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I have been into serious photography since 1973 when I purchased my first SLR. I got started when I developed the desire to preserve the fleeting beauty of everything around me.
2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
Other than learning the cameras and lenses, I've pretty much learned by trial and error. Lots of errors.
3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I can't see the photo that won but if it's the Chatanooga Choo-Choo, the size of the bolt holding the connecting rod to the center drive wheel with the Star Of David on it, in comparison to the size of the Gandy-Dancer to the drivers, was fascinating to me.
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
Back in 2011 I borrowed a friend's Canon EOS 40D with a 135 f2 USM to take with us to the mountains. Setup involved making sure I was on Aperture Preferred and set to 5.6.
5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I think this was one of my luckiest shots and wouldn't change a thing.
6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I would LOVE to conduct the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
I have some shots posted on various photo sites around the web and I'm building my own site but it's not ready yet.

Use a tripod, but there was little time for this as the crane operator was shimming up his ladder on the crane. Fortunately for me he stopped to admire the view, or catch his breath, so only able to shoot two shots of him, in front of the sun.
6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Read about it! And admire others work.
7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
