NASA launched a Minotaur V rocket at 11:27 PM tonight from Wallop's Island VA. The rocket put the LADEE lunar orbiter into space. Exposure was all guesswork. I couldn't find and tips of info on line about how to photograph a night launch 215 miles away.

Wow. You are so lucky to see that. We are Aussies and were in San Francisco last year when the Space Shuttle passed over the city (on the back of a plane). Caught a brief glimpse between the buildings and squealed in delight.
