If one assumes that Coulter's analysis is accurate regarding the manner in which rest of the world views the USA: it seems better to be respected, even if hated; than to be laughed at and not respected....

I fail to see what this one man's delusion has to do with the topic at hand. This discussion leans more towards politics than religion. Ann Colter's comment has more to do with Obama as the reason the USA is no longer respected and that we as a nation is being laughed at. Then again, you may be right, Obama dose think he is God.

I don't think the world hates America and I don't think the world is laughing at America. I think there are certainly a few that do both but I believe the world at large respects America and Americans.

I have to disagree with you. Oh, it's ok to drag Obama into this, but I have news for you people who see only what they prefer seeing. It started long before Obama. Respect is earned, not given away freely, and it certainly is not earned by dictating to those who may be weaker than you. You need to blame presidents from both parties for this. Even though I know, you can't bring yourself to blame any, whom you may have supported. Because doing so would be admitting that you may have been wrong. As far as the world is concerned, we are back to being the ugly American.

Once we were hated, I would guess when Bush was in Office but back then the USA had the respect of the rest of the World. Today the world is laughing at us, not because of what Bush had done but because of Obama, after having received the Nobel peace Prize (for What) is now running around trying to get support to strike at Syria. Where is the respect in that? And what the hell does Richard Dawkins have to do with it?
