I found my first Purple Gallinule that was actually purple on my very first visit to Orlando Wetlands. He caught a snail and gave it to the kids. It was fun to watch. I also noticed a cluster of butterfly eggs in the background. Can anyone ID the eggs?

Lucky you. We don't have those around here. I've got some shots of Common Moorhens recently re-named Common Gallinule , but we don't see Purple Gallinules around here.

I think the eggs you are referring to are Apple Snail eggs.

Sunfish these are fun, watching the scene play out must have been a treat, isn't it amazing how hard it can be to spot the P. Galinule, I go to Blue Heron Wetlands in Titusville quite often, I know the galinules are there but I only spot them about 50 percent of the time and sometimes go for weeks without finding one. I love that first image, what a set a feet, couldn't blow him down in a hurricane.

Thanks Jim! This was a new area for me and I was hoping for one of these. I've been hunting for this one for quite a while.
