I got up at 5:00am this past Sunday to launch my camoed kayak blind at the preserve. It takes about an hour to get to the preserve. They were supposed to open the gates at one hour before sunrise and close them one hour after sunset. I was still waiting out at the front gate until after 8 am... gate still locked. I never got to launch my kayak, so I headed for a small pond closer to home. I had never been there before. Here are a few from the shoot. Enjoy.

You are always so fast at the viewing. I hadn't finished uploading images yet. Hope you get to see them all. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Thanks. This bird was fascinating to watch. It would hover its head above the surface in which the Gambusia (small fish) were present. The fish would dive into the elodea and cord weed for cover. It would then take its long leg and nudge the bottom under the plants until one would dart out so it could launch its attack.

Nice job David, love the Red Tailed hawk, what a great capture. I hate when that happens at wildlife areas, you get up before the moon has set only to wait on someone who doesn't show, glad you turned the rest of the day to good use. Some very nice shots in the series.

I wouldn't have minded it so much if their web site stated that they were open later. The rest of the day did provide some shots, but I didn't care for the lighting. It took a lot of post processing for the contrasting lights and darks with the Snowy Egret.

The hawk was a quick shot. I was leaving the park entrance and pulled over to grab a shot of the bird. As the car came to a stop the bird took off in the other direction. I was busy rolling the window down and grabbing for the camera when it appeared back over the tree and flew past. This was a quick shot from the window as it disappeared above my car. it was the only frame I got.

Thank you for your kinds words though.

Thank you. I enjoyed my little boat ride around the wetland. There is so much opportunity to view wildlife when you are on the water side looking in.
