I am off to Maine next week for two days of business, and thought I would go early all the way to Acadia National Park and take my kit. I have a good camera, full lens package, good tripod, cable release, and a few filters (that I am not quite sure a good enough). What am I forgetting and wish I had once I am there?
Figure morning, I'll be looking for coastline photos facing north or south, and late afternoon, seeking reflected light off the clouds. Anybody who has been there and has advice would be my hero.
Thanks,
JH
Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor in early morning.Do a search for what time the sun rises and be up there at least a half hour before as you can get awesome shots.

Cadillac will be your best bet for first light photo's, leaves are starting to turn and they are loosing some of their green luster, fog is going to be a real concern because of the cool nights humid mornings, alot of sea smoke really socking in the coast, I took pictures today as the fog hit the coastline of an island and it curled up like a wave then came down over the island....happened fast try working your way down the coast, Fort knox in bucksport pretty cool, small coastal villages through out
Follow the Loop Road in the park and you'll hit all the best photo ops for coastline in that area. Outside the park, follow Rte 3 and Rte 102 to find some little towns and more coastal or tidal scenic areas. In the park, if you have time, go to Jordan Pond House. Here's a link:

Cadillac Mountain and the Loop Rd will take you where you need to go. Mid-day can be good just walking around the town of Bar Harbor ( "Bah Hahbah" ) - lots of nice old houses, shops, a few schooners in the hahbah, etc. Acadia is a special place! Have a lahbstah!

I'll add to the first page of offerings: The view from Bubble Rock atop South Bubble, the view looking south from the access to Bubble Pond, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor (very picturesque villages and harbors) and the view of the pond/Bubbles from the Pond House. By the way, the popovers and lobster stew are to die for. Have fun!

You should download The Photographer's Ephemeris...great for sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset and angles.
In Bar Harbor try to walk out to Bar Island, you need to go and get back in the low tide period, Cadillac Mtn sunrise, go to town after and get you sunrise club card, we have them, also several overlooks off the loop road are good for sunrise, Southwest Harbor can give a nice scene for sunrise, as can the seawall area of Acadia, check maps, just outside of the park near seawall you can sit in the car until the right time, I'd like to try the Scodic area for sunrise haven't done that yet, furthur south don't forget Ogunquit and Perkins Cove for sunrise and the lobster boats going out ,if your early enough, Bob.
