In Executive Order 13603 signed into effect on March 16, 2012
The president authorizes in peace time or cases of national emergency, his department heads to conscript persons of outstanding experience and ability without compensation.

"Sec. 502. Consultants. The head of each agency otherwise delegated functions under this order is delegated the authority of the President under sections 710(b) and (c) of the Act, 50 U.S.C. App. 2160(b), (c), to employ persons of outstanding experience and ability without compensation and to employ experts, consultants, or organizations. The authority delegated by this section may not be redelegated."

Sounds like good times on the ole plantation once again to me.

Never can tell, you may be out standing in your field and someone comes up and says "You look like you have experience and ability, so you need to bend over and pick some of that cotton" for no pay of course.

unless you are older than I think you probably have "pulled boles"
pickin cotton is a differen deal...we raised cotton on our farm when I was a kid & I was a very happy okie kid when dad quit growin cotton.....
for the city folks here..Pickin cotton is pulling only the cotton out of the boles..
Pullin boles is putting the whole bole in your sack & letting the cotton gin separate it

Neither one is much fun....

You are right. I did not know the difference. Thanks for the education.

When I have worked on the railroad it was at a steam museum replacing ties and laying new track with all the old tools. It was a good education and let me really appreciate the old ways things were done.

NO it does not say that. This has been in effect since 1950. It concerns the mobilizing of US industry in time of war.

From where do you folks get this bogus iterpretation.

You gave the site did you bother to read the Executive Order?

Well now is not that special, this proves snopes is nothing but a left wing rumor mill. If you take the time to follow the link to the whitehouse.guv site the executive orders are posted there and I read the order and copied and pasted directly from the posted order. Now how can snopes say this is not true. Look it up for yourself.
