Most of these I made small adjustments in PS. I could use suggestions on cropping, composition and any other advise or opinions to care to share. Thank you :) I don't typically resize my pictures so they tend to be large files. Does it matter?

I use Raw format setting to take my canon photos . And when I save a photo that I touched up in PS CS 6 . I always save as Tiff for max quality , which can be a big file ,but I want quality or saving space on my computer . I have 7 large hard drives for my one computer alone . The only time I don't use Tiff is when I have to use Jpeg format like required here on Ugly Hedgehog. I run all photos of mine or ones given to me to restore or to enhance thru PS CS 6 and save as Tiff Too. I bought a camera that would take large files , and to make them into compressed Jpegs would be a waste of money . This is my opinion and I don't try to speak for any other photographer . As far as cropping and enhancing your photo using Photoshop . The best advice I can give you since every photographer's eye is different , and the monitors they use to view the photos posted will make them look different , ( I have 4 monitors ) and they all show the photo differently in color and contrast for sure.I have used Photoshop for a long time and have learned many tricks to enhance my photos , color black and white photos , restore old photos . Too many things to post here . And as I said before , what may look good to your eye on your monitor may not on another monitor . You can watch or buy dvds of photoshop training videos that would help you to learn how to make your photos every thing you hoped they would be when you took them . After all , the photographer is the one that decides if he or she is satisfied with the final photo . Others may post what they think that may help you , that is one reason you posted here. My advice is experiment with the different tools in PS . You will be amazed with the results once you get some training thru experimenting or thru training videos. If you want to , send me a PM by clicking on my user name , and I will tell you some of my tricks I learned using PS CS 6 . Hope this helps .

Thank you. I do appreciate it. I had an into course with PS CS 6 at the community college here and own the software. I do need some more classes, because I am not using 99% of what I know it can do.

Glad I could help you some. I don't use the masking in photoshop like they show in the training videos . Because I have learned how to make my photos pop with all the other tools photoshop has. If you have any questions when your using photoshop to make your photos look better , send me a PM and I will try to help you . Using photoshop I have become a master at coloring black and white photos too , new and old. This spring I took some of my families photos from over 100 yrs old and enlarged them and then colored them . You can repair torn photos to new , photos that have folds in them , nicks, faded , etc. once you get the hang of the tools. You have the ability to add items or people , remove items or people . I have gotten good enough that I can even take the clothes off people and make there bodies look nude and look real using PS. I got my ability to color photos when I use to do color portraits by hand . If you have the time , experiment over and over . One thing I want to mention about using PS. Under the tap Edit , go to Preferences , Performance , change history states to 100 . This will allow you to back up a lot more times when working with the affects of the tools. Since my mouse has a scroll wheel , I also put a check in the zoom with scroll wheel under the tab General to allow me to zoom my photos smaller or larger in PS . One last thing , under Interface I remove the check from the box - open documents as tabs , because I have a 32" monitor that allows me to put 2 photos or more up to work on or to use at the same time . Just a thought. My other monitors are 24" - 22" - and a 17" laptop ... I also have a Wacom Tablet I some times use . For better control of my movements inside PS , I use a mouse that I don't have to move around . They don't sell it any more , but you can look around and find a mouse that atleast has a trackball , this will give you better control of movement when your trying to do fine work , my mouse also has every thing else you could want on a mouse . Scroll wheel , L & R click , and back & forward paging . Last tip , even if you have photos taken in Jpeg . You can still use camera raw to enhance them . Just open the mini Bridge function , right click on the photo you want to open , put your cursor over Open With , click on Camera Raw . You won't get as good of a result as you would with Raw photos , but it will help . Hope these tips make it easier to use PS. Tommy
