I shot 3 bracketed raw 0 -2 +2 and 3 JPG bracketed. Merged them in DPP. The raw to TIFF then JPG and the JPG to JPG. Cropped and straightened in Picasa, and some PP in GIMP. cc welcome as this is a practice run. Thanks.

Old Boots,

Since this was a practice try, and an experiment you can try again with different settings. Next time use Exposure Lock, and lock the exposure on the lit window. Recompose the image and capture your 3 Ev exposures.

The point here is to get the outside window light as close to correct exposure as possible, then through HDR processing bring up the under exposed elements within the room.

[quote=Armadillo]Old Boots,

Old Boots,looks like you are on your way to mastering HDR. Great start. And thank you Armadillo. You are why I love the hog. Your advice helps me as I then look at the composition of my own photos.

I couldn't get the lock to stay very easily so what I did was to set the AEB to -2 0 +2. I aimed the camera at the over exposure. I was then able to move the exposure down in 1/3 steps to as much as -5. That put the 0 setting at -3 and the +2 exposure at -1 with 9 stops in between to chose from. I didn't have to reset the lock after each set of brackets was shot. I would think this could work if there was a badly under exposure in the setup, too. Thanks for the idea. Lee
