The World`s Largest Private Sailing Yacht.
Built by Dutch Royal Huisman in 2004 Athena is a clipper-bowed three masted gaff rigged schooner.Athena is 295` long, 40` wide with draft 19`.She displaces 1177 tons, full sails cover 28632 sq feet, max. speed 19knots,engines 2x Caterpliiar 3516B.The masts are 197` tall and is crewed by 18.She was for sale in July 2012 for $95 millions,I believe nowdays you can charter her for around $250000 PER WEEK.I had two separate opportunities to photograph this dream yacht, the first one was during really bad weather (see enclosed photos).
The rain did not bother me on this one,I took it right from my living room.
Taken from my car to keep the camera dry.
I got soaked taking this one and the bugs had a field day with me.
So, when you book your week, be sure to send us more beautiful photos. ;-)

Well it will be a while, perhaps by 2080 I will have enough spare cash. But wait, in the name of income redistribution and spreading the wealth the Athena may start giving rides to homeless people by 2016.
You have a beautiful view from your LR. Does the Athena berth nearby?
These are really nice shots! My dad had a similar 40 ft. yacht Made of Mahogany that he spent most of my life at the time restoring. He had finished it up in the fall and it was ready to go back into Lake Michigan the following spring. That winter, the warehouse where it was housed, was burned to the ground by the man who owned the warehouse in order to collect insurance money. Dirty bastard! He got caught and he did time. Since it was arson, my dad's insurance would not pay out. Heartbreaking. All that work for nothing and a dream shattered.
Hello Alaskan,
I cannot remember you asking my permission to take and publisize photographs of my boat!
That rig is really something.

We might have believed you if you had said you kept it moored in plain sight of the house in case you felt an urge to go sailing.
These are gorgeous shots of this beautiful yacht.

I am not sure where the Athena berths, definitely not here. She spent here two nights total on two different occasions.Whoever was on board obviously came to see the bears. We have three harbors but Athena is a bit oversized for them so she anchored in front of the town.
Thanks.

Although it is a little small for my tastes, I considered purchasing it but all that darn rigging just wouldn't allow me to land my helicopter on deck! ;-)
