Can You Identify This Suspect?

At first, I thought it was a Green Heron. But, he is much too brown and has a black crown. The only other pic in Sibley's that comes close is the Black-crowned Night Heron. Help requested.

Thanks, Bozsik. I have shot Greens before and they are all MUCH greener. I wonder if this is seasonal or juvenile plumage. He looks so much different from previous greens. Any thoughts?

No, it's a Greeny. It's well on its way to becoming an adult.

Thanks, Jeep. I guess my previous pics were adults. But this, is probably the smallest of the ones I shot and, accordingly, probably juvenile. Thanks for input.

On another note, the note about your avatar intrigued me and sent me to a site that you are probably aware of. But here it is for your review........that is one hell of an injury to recover from. I had two knee replacements, and that is what prompted my interest.

Hope you're getting along well.
