While taking the clothes out of the washer I found a 1GB CD card in the bottom - I put it into a drinking glass of rice and hope in a week or so it will be OK.
Any hope on the cure?
Harvey
I've done that more than once and it came out fine.
Good luck!

I don't think there is a cure for taking clothes out of the washer short of divorce. Nope that's not it either.

Did it have dirty pictures on it? ;-)

Like GN says it should be fine, no moving parts on the card. That said if it was very hot water the pictures may be slightly smaller.
I hope you didn't use bleach, if so than all the photos will be in B&W....or maybe just white????
I am the " Mr. It" here as my Wifie of 55 yrs is now disabled to the point that if it is to be done I do it. Yes - we live kind of the life of a bachelor some times but I do the best I can - good thing the daughters and grand kids come to dust and vacuum once in a while or the dust bunnies would over take us for sure.
Damn the Golden Years can be tough some times.

Since it doesn't have any power applied when it is out of the camera or reader, you "should" be okay as long as it didn't get too warped to fit in the slot and you give it a few days to dry out. I would suggest putting it in a small container with either dry rice or some silica gel package to help draw out any remaining moisture.
I cannot help you about your disk, but you are to be commended for you care of your wife and house. I am sure she appreciates everything you do. Keep up the good work and good luck on your disk.

Fortunately there are no moving parts on the CD card. Unfortunately the impurities in city water will dry on the PCB (printer circuit board) and my bridge an electrical circuit when power is applied. You may want to get a moisture displacer (aka electronic component cleaner) and soak it.
Another method which may work is used distilled water and soak the CD again for a minute or so. Then put the CD back into a glass of rice. The distilled water does not have the impurities of tap water.
For the few $ involved if this don't work no big deal - I'll just buy a new 4GB card.
During the making of the card D-ionized water was used to clean it. It should be OK.

Harvey, I'm not so far behind you. Good luck with those goldener years.
Maybe if you stuck the whole house in the washer once a month, even the kids could come over and just relax ! SS
I went swimming in fresh water with mine (okay, I fell off the dock with my D90 and SB600) and only non of 50 photos uploaded. After five days in silica, though, all of the photos uploaded just fine.
