I've had mine for 4 months now, and I'm still surprised at how good the prints look. Ink flow is even and smooth, especially noticeable in large areas of even color or black. Ink usage is much less than I had expected, speed is good, and there was (when I bought mine) some decent bundled software. Unbeatable at its price.

I'm happy with mine. Had for about two months and installed a CIS system. No problems, easy install. Saves ink.

I just purchased one a little while ago. My first impression was terrible. Printing on normal paper was just fine but printing on HP photo paper (glossy or matte) and the ink streaked very badly and would not dry. THEN I was advised on this forum to NOT use HP paper. I bought some Epson and some Staples photo paper and I can happily say my photo prints are as good as or better than what I got from several print labs. Quality is second to none IMHO. The ink comes in 5 colour cartridges plus a black which are not cheap. Each cartridge costs anywhere from $26 to $31 a piece depending on where you shop. As far a how long they last I can not say as I still am on the original cartridges. So far I have printed three 13x19 inch (borderless), and a few 8x10 masterpieces plus half a dozen disasters on HP paper and still going strong.

Sounds as tho you have pluggage. I use CIS ink and have on occasion had plugging and yuck color print. Find a pure color test page and print, you will see which cart is plugged.

I take out my cart, shake out ink, fill with 70%+ Isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) let stand with tip immersed in alcohol, rinse off out side, blow off the alcohol on electrical connection* and run thru a cleaning cycle**... then remove cart and shake alcohol out and fill with a little ink. WaLa... in business again!

I am in my 3rd year now and that is $2000 savings! amazing indeed!

* Use hypo syringe and needle

Sounds to me like an awful headache to save some cash. With original inks, I've never had any problem . . . five years now. But each to his own, right?

I've had the 1430 for about 2 months now and I am truly amazed at the quality of the prints. I've had good luck with my Artisan 800, so I decided to stay with Epson and I'm not sorry that I did. However, despite my bad luck with Canon printers, the price of the Pro 100 ($399.00) along with a Canon $300.00 dollar rebate would have made me think twice if it were available when I bought my Epson. 8 ink cartridges with black, gray and light gray would have been great with black & whites.

Although I live in Ontario, Canada I have ordered both inkjet papers and inks from a company in Illinois called ATLEX. Very happy with their service and especially the prices. See more at www.atlex.com

I'm depressed now...I could probably buy a 1430 and SAVE money over what I have now. My NX110 has a 4 pl minimum drop size, while the 1430 has a 1.5 pl drop size. I'm going to have to start saving!

Like you, I'm strongly considering the 1430, prints up to 13X19 inch prints. Imagine your landscape photos at that size.

For every day use, I have the NX110, and for photos I use an Artisan 260, older but beautiful prints. In France I have an SX415, all in one. It produces amazing quality color photo prints. There I use A4 paper which gives a slightly more landscape look than 8X10 here.

I've been an Epson fan since the beginning. First printer was an Epson Esc/2P. I used it and my son took it to college. He's now photojournalist so used the heck out of it too. Beautiful color photo prints on Epson paper and Epson inks. I'd never consider using any other ink, especially refilled cartridges as would be disappointed with results.

Has to be an advantage, not to be so critical. I'm happy with CIS ink. I can afford that.
