I opened my latest Virginia Wildlife Magazine and found to my delight that two of my photos had been published as their 'photo of the month'.
I had not heard from them since I submitted them quite a while ago, so I had given up on the process.
Below is a copy of page on which they appear, along with the original photos.
Well done and congratulations!
Big Congratulations Jim on a job well done! I know that had to make your day :) So happy for you :) and the photos are fantastic!

You'd think. LOL They had asked for - and received - a stamped self addressed return envelope.
But it was kinda nice to open the magazine and see the pics without any idea they'd be there.
It really is a nice wildlife magazine. If you're from Virginia or one of the surrounding states, it's incredibly informative.
CONGRATULATIONS Jim Howell!
Well deserved. Have you also submitted to same magazine, insect macro-photographs?
Congrats Jim !!! great images !
Very nice Jim, and well deserved!
Congratulations Jim. Finally someone recognized your amazing ability.

That fox looks so real it looks like he's about to say something. Great shots! DOF is right on.

Thanks everyone. I was very surprised - and very pleased.
Douglass, I THINK I submitted some several years ago, but after having been on this board for a while, and learning of the great techniques that others here are using, I know the quality of my work has improved. Whenever I'm in Virginia, I always take my macro-setup and I do have some that I want to submit for their next photo contest.
Wish me luck!
