Their "wages" make up only a fraction of their income, most probably wouldn't even notice. Put an end to the pork and the lobbyist and you may have something.

The original congress and state legislatures were voluntary service or per diem wages. Meetings were held monthly for a brief period, less than a week, to allow farmers to not be gone long from their crops, animals, and families. They had a PURPOSE. God was there with them as well. Then...politics were invented. Something is wrong.

The argument our politcians use, is that they could get paid a lot more in the private sector. The fact is, in the real world a degree in politics would get you a job on minimum wage.

Most politicians were unemployed lawyers. the thing to do is make them unemployed politicians.

I say give them random drug\alcohol tests.
I really don't give a damn about some ball player making umpteen millions for shagging fly balls while on performance enhancing drugs. I do care about the morons in DC making decisions that impact all our lives while they are coked up or in an alcohol stupor.
