Last year I managed to get photo credentials for the World Series of Drag Racing in Cordova, Il. My shots after dark just stunk up the joint, they were terrible. I was using my Nikon SB-600 flash on my Nikon D7000, and I had NO idea what I was doing. I found out 10 months ago I was invited back, so I spent all that time trying to do better. Then, one week before the race, they tell us NO flash photography. I spent that time photographing traffic at 10PM, people must have thought I was nuts. However, most of my stuff came out okay. With my 70-200 I couldn't get the angles I wanted, but the constant f2.8 seemed to be what I needed.
By the way, they enforced the no flash rule with an iron fist. We even had to sign something saying they could kick us out if we used a flash.
1/250, f2.8, ISO 4000.
Nice work Big Grouch.
No flash needed there !!!! Nice one. You got anymore?
Very nice indeed. You captured the moment of release! You don't need a flash with the 2.8. lol
