Has anyone tried this Tamron lens for indoor sports. I was thinking about using it for High School basketball. Did not know if the auto-focus would be fast enough. Thanks for any comments.

Don't know anything about the Tamron but you got the metrics correct. This is the correct range and aperture for your end of the court (assuming you are on the floor). Probably need a noise free ISO of at least 1600.
