Gotta love Texas!! It only makes sense, and would probably curtail generations of welfare recipients taking unfair advantage of the system that was put in place to temporarily help those who are going through an unexpected rough time making ends meet. If only we could get her and MANY like her IN CHARGE OF our Country. 21 YRS OLD, could this mean there is still HOPE .....

Wow, this girl has a great plan! Love the last thing she would do the best.

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she's worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she's being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .

*Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

*Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

*Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

*In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.."

*Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem (back in our grandparents time).

*If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

*AND While you are on Gov't subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Government welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job!!!!!!

What's silly? Only thing silly is it's too intelligent to ever get implemented.

But you didn't answer his question, what's silly? I only ask because I'm curious to know what part of the post you object to.

Do the schools in Arkansas teach common sense? If so, you must have missed that class... wherever you're from.

First of all, it would be profoundly illegal to keep someone from voting, and not even desirable. The Republicans are trying it now, and its going to backfire on them. Voting is the new Selma, and black and Hispanic voters will be active, heroically voting for Democratic candidates.

But, this post is particularly ignorant, painting a picture of a fantasy conservatives believe in: someone is making $100,000 a year having illegitimate children (any parent knows you can't get rich by having children); that people collecting a couple hundred dollars a month in food stamps, etc. go out and spend it all on sirloin steaks, forty-inch TVs, drugs, and fancy cars--when they don"t know where their next meal is coming from; they believe that half the population is cheating by not paying income taxes, when half of the population is existing of two hundred dollars a week, and is exempted from income tax because of low wages, and couldn't afford to pay them anyway.

I have a grandson, college graduate, working 25 hours a week selling fast food, for $8/hour, because he can't find anything better; how much income tax should he pay on $10,000 a year?

Do you think he buys sirloin steaks, TVs, and fancy cars??? Or is that only black people?

Do we think only black people eat Ding Dongs and Ho Hos?

The most offensive aspect of this post is its inherent (and silent, but real) racism, and its endorsement of class warfare.

I read just yesterday of a state that drug tested recipients--they caught twelve--TWELVE!--drug users.

I ask you to re-read the entire post, and--in the privacy of your own mind--ask what color of people is she writing about.

I think we know.

But you and she would both deny being racist, right?

This post is dishonest in its facts, and unChristian in its morally superior judgement.

It is a shameful, shameful post, and should bring shame to the heart of anyone who endorses it.

Flame away...

Depends on your crime, against the state or was it a federal offense was it a misdemeanor or a felony all make a difference as to what rights one loses however one never loses human rights.

I have read it three times, at your suggestion. The ideas are realistic and fair, without regard to race. I suggest it's your racism that is "reading" her post.
