Critique, criticize and EDIT, please.

This is in my back yard. I'm not sure if I posted this before, but I can't find it if I did.
I did it in sepia for a rustic look, and tweaked the background for a feeling of phychological surrealism. It is a focus stack of five images processed with CombineZM.
My reason for posting, or reposting if that's the case, is that it was rejected in a stock agency submission. Please feel free to critique and edit to your heart's content. I'm sending the original so all pertinent info should be available.
Barbed Wire
lmarc,
Im probably not really qualified to critique (i dont know much about stock)...and definately not to edit. But I want to show you something and ask too.
the pic below is also of barbed wire and I see much more of a story in it then I do in your piece. Now maybe you had to have been there...I dont know. And since I dont know anything about stock as you will see below...maybe this would be totally unacceptable too...but it says something that I dont think your pic does.
the questions I have for you is have you had some submissions accepted?
if so, how do you do with the $$$$
and if the answer to that is great (or crappy for that matter), How did you get started.
Finally...your picture above is clear crisp and cool with the background regardless of being accepted or not.

Thank you so much for your reply. May I PM you?
I personally see nothing wrong with your shot.
Just a thought but have you tried doing in HDR for a surreal rustic look?

I haven't tried much HDR, although I'd love to, because I'm using a Nikon D-60 that doesn't allow automatic bracketed exposures. I have to do it manually and that involves touching the camera between each shot. I've had a couple come out ok but it's more hassle than it's worth. I guess this is an ad for Canon!
I have done a lot of tone mapping with PhotoMatrix but it's not quite the same.
I too know nothing about stock photography. So not sure what they are looking for.
I like your shot but think maybe a bit bland, maybe it needs to be a bit more dramatic.
I rotated a little, changed color tone a bit, boosted contrast and darkened. Also sharpened to give more texture to wire.

Thank you very much! You have certainly made it more dramatic! Are you using Photoshop?
yes meant to hit quote reply...yes lmarc you can pm me but if i did something wrong..like i should not have posted a pic on your post...please be nice about it. I did not think you would mind since you were ok with edits and critiques and such.

I am using an old version of Photoshop (version 6). I usually do very little pp except for the basics, contrast, saturation, BW or sepia conversion and of course, cropping.

You did nothing wrong at all! I don't mind edits to my stuff, nor do I mind if someone posts their own photos on my thread. I learn a lot from others' work.
Thank you, and feel free to post whatever you may want on my threads.
This was my take on barbed wire. I had a version of this posted earlier, but have made a few small revisions to it. I also wanted this to "say a little bit more" than just another photo.
Beyond. . .

Very good! Here we have a few flowers, in season, but we're a bit lacking in trees and......uhhh....what's that other stuff? Oh, RAIN!
I'm joking, of course! In Arizona we have to develop a "dry" sense of humour...
Great shot!!!
Must be somepin wrong with me as I don't see where your pix doesn't have a 'story' and the posted does...I must be missing something. Yours is a good shot I think and tells a story about the natural curve in the wire and how it's made.
Good interesting shot; keep that one around when you want to think simplistic!..
Nice.
