I have the 18-270mm,f3.5-6.3 PZD and love it. It's on my camera 90% of the time.

I'm guessing but: IF is probably Internal Focus, ASP is probably an Aspherical Element, but I'd think these would be a bit more in cost, not less.

I'm sure the Tamron web site explains the abbreviation salad.

the PZD is smaller and lighter.
it is smooth throught the zoom range.

the reg. 18-270 gets tight in the middle of the zoom range and loosens up at both ends of the zoom range.

my buddy had the reg one, sold it for about half price, purchased the PZD, now he is as happy as a pig in s#$%.

I have a 18 x 270 and after about a year of use it had a tight spot in the Zoom , I e-mail Tamron and they e-mail me a shipping label to send back, and they cleaned it , and did what they called serviced it , and it got it back 5 days later and works great -- NO CHARGE

PZD is smaller, lighter, 62 mm filter, faster and quieter focus due to PZD. I also notice less lens creep on the PZD than on the previous model although the PZD does creep. Both have VC ( Vibration Control)

maybe one has the auto focus motor in the lens for all the nikons that dont have it in the body anymore. (stupidist thing i efver saw nikon do, even worse then investing in aps film cameras.

I rather replace a lens with a bad motor than my camera

Can anyone give me some information on teh Tamron SP 70-
00 4/5.6 Di VC USD versus Tamron AF 28-300 3.5/6.3 XR Di VC LD IF. I want to shoot birds so I think I need the extra length but I am having a hard time finding quality ratings on the latter lens. Any suggestions or experience? Thank you.
