Often thought of the last, and 21st mission, in the old California Mission chain. It originally was a hospital site and an annex of the San Francisco mission. It later became a full mission, and no longer served as a hospital.
One of only two of the missions not currently operated and run by the Catholic Church. The California State Parks maintains and runs this site, as part of the larger historic town square in Sonoma.
There is a collection of wonderful painting on loan to the mission, from the artist's family. The artist, and his new bride, set out on their honeymoon where traveled to and painted all of the missions. They traveled by horse and wagon, and it was around 1900. This collection of paintings are worth the trip to the mission.

Lovely picture and framing and a worthy verse.

Thank you for your comments.
Well done! the sunset/sunrise colors set off the white building so nicely. Love the border treatment. Seems more right with this image than something straight and confining.

Very nicely done. I'm really enjoying your mission series. Thank you.

Carlysue,
It is sunset, with a touch of watercolor treatment in PP. The "border" is one of hundreds of edge treatments from AutoF/X.com and their Edges Program. I have used this program for over 20 years.
Thank you for looking and for your kind comments.

Thank you so much Vicki. If you have not photographed the old California missions, you are missing out on some great subject matter. Of the 21 missions, there are 9 of them that are within reasonable day trips from you.
I plan on shooting them all once again in the coming months. This time taking a bit more time at some of the missions, as well as doing some interior shots. I am particularly interested in shooting them also with my dedicated color infrared camera.

I am anticipating and eager to see these missions in infrared. I am imagining even more ethereal artwork.
