I have taken a number of timed photos of the night sky and have been told that I should consider using "stacking software" which stacks a number of photos, will eliminate many of the "hot pixels" and bring out details that are not visible in a single photo. I have downloaded and/or purchased several programs but I have not been able to get them to do what they are supposed to do. Many have very little or no support so I can't get help that way. I am running the software on an iMac with OSX 10.8.4 and using a Nikon D3000 for the photos. I just purchased a Nikon D3200 and will be using that camera in the future. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has had some experience using stacking software on a Mac or on a PC. Thanks for any help you can offer.
