Remember right after the Travon Martin shooting, the prosecutors had no plans to file any charges UNTIL Obama stuck his nose in and literally demanded that charges be brought ?

Zimmerman Trial Costs Public $902,000
August 22, 2013 by UPI - United Press International, Inc.
SANFORD, Fla., (UPI) — The five-week trial of George Zimmerman that ended in his acquittal in the death of teenager Trayvon Martin cost the public $902,000, officials said.
Zimmerman, who was charged with murder in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, 17, in Sanford, began June 10 and a six-member jury returned the not guilty verdict on July 13.
The biggest cost associated with the trial was paid to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, which spent $425,000 providing security, planning and logistics during the trial, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Wednesday. The second biggest was the $183,000 the city of Sanford spent on police overtime.
Sanford police decided to up security to curb potential violent protests as well as protect Zimmerman, who had received death threats
Juror costs also were high. The Clerk of Courts Maryanne Morse spent $34,600 during the jury’s 22-day sequestration, during which the six members of the jury lived in a hotel and were isolated from their families and media reports.
The trial costs are based, in part, on estimates and do not include criminal investigation or pretrial costs, such as the $80,000 the Seminole-Brevard State Attorney’s Office paid to have Special Prosecutor Angela Corey work on the case.
Nor did the trial costs include what Zimmerman and his law

My suggestion would be; Congress deduct $1,000,000 from Obama's "pension" and send it to Sanford, Florida to covewr the un-needed expenses.

Totally insane. The whole process has to be redesigned. Cops LOVE that overtime. Maybe the Martin's could chip in. They are milking this for all they can. What was the bill for the Boston Bombers investigation? Looked like every cop in New England was there. Talk about 'Law of Diminishing Returns".

Then again, the money eventually flows back into the public domain through spending on services, the hiring of additional court personnel, etc. It's not like the money is sent to an incinerator for destruction or something. It's the flow of money that keeps the economy going, not the hording of money in mattresses.

I admit that hoarding money under a mattress only serves one purpose. Your money is controlled by you and not the stock market or a bank which could fail at any time. It decreases in value and could be stolen. It is not in circulation and doesn't help in boosting the economy until it is spent.

However, it is our money that is being wasted which adds to debt and higher taxes. Do you think when the government prints more money that the economy is stimulated? It just devalues it's worth adding to inflation and higher prices for all. This, of course, has a more devastating effect o the poor than the rich.
Maybe a stimulus package of $100,000 to every man, women and child would solve our economic woes? The only problem, a loaf of bread would cost $50.

Oh yes, I'm sure YOU think That Obummer's recent $100,000,000 week long "jaunt" to Africa was a "great investment" also.......after all, I'm sure the big oil companies who refined a few hundred millions worth of jet fuel were quite happy........even though the taxpayers who supplied tha BUCKS to buy it were slightly less than thrilled ! (Leave it to a libtard to find a way that wasting tax payer's money is a "good thing"!)

If we are speaking purely in terms of tax money wasted I am far more concerned about the 250 BILLION dollars spent in Iraq on projects that were either never finished and/or never used.

So the cost of providing a fair trial is Obama's fault?? What on earth did Obama have to do with it?

Here's a better idea--deduct the cost of the Iraq war from Bush's pension. Or the cost of the Valarie Plame business from Cheney's pension. At least there would be a direct link. Your Obama Derangement Syndrome has obliterated your ability to think, such as it is.

Mr. Jones.........may I safely assume that by mentioning money you say was wasted in Iraq, indicate that it was "wasted" during the Bush administration, and will therefore allow you to "blame it on George Bush"? If that's the case, I'm afraid you would be attempting to "hi-jack" this thread, which is only intended for discussing the over one million dollars which was wasted on this needless trial, which, as we ALL know, would not EVEN have taken place had it not been for Obama, and his "lap dog", Eric Holder, sticking their noses in a matter which clearly would NEVER have been an issue for any other administration in history, (not even that of Bill Clinton.)

That's what this thread is about; if you want to discuss Iraq, or "ancient polynesian climate change", please feel free to start a thread on "that". ( I feel that it is more productive to talk about ONE subject at a time.)

Since the subject is in general wasted tax dollars I am on topic. Is it Bush's fault? I don't know who made the decision and I imagine some of it occurred on Obama's watch as well. Don't know who to blame specifically. It's not about blame anyway. The point is so many worry about piddly crap when the big crimes go on without much comment.

Do not delude yourself even for one moment that you have anything whatsoever to say about what I post or not. I'm reasonably certain I don't need your permission to speak out.

The thing that bothers me most in all of this "Political Back and forth" is the continual """""BUSH DUN IT"""""" or """""CLINTON DUN IT"""""""""
That is DONE and cannot be undone.... President Obama is the ONE TODAY...not Bush, or Clinton, or ???? But President Obama.

Obama only took XXXX vacations..............Bush took XXXXXXXXX vacations... Who the hell cares... Obama's vacations have already cost more than Bush's vacations and his term is not done yet... Be on POINT... what can be done by the monstrous spending that is going on today..NOT what went on yesterday....
The Apostle Paul says (Paraphrase) "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize ......... " WHAT is the Prize today.......A CONSTANT litany of HE DID IT, HE DID IT... instead Look forward to MAKE US BETTER..

Mike

I think you are the one who is "deluding himself" Mr. Jones;
the title of this thread is "Zimmerman Trial Costs Public $902,000". This is NOT a thread about "government waste" per se; It alludes to the FACT that slightly less than a million dollars was poured down a rat hole needlessly, simply because of a CLEARLY racist potus determined that any time a WHITE person shoots a BLACK person, (in HIS "opinion"), it's murder, and there MUST be a trial. (regardless of what the law says)

I have no idea if you have ever been a member of a forum before, but whether you have, or whether you haven't, it's a well established, standard operating procedure that members of forums, when responding to threads on said forum, are expected to discuss the topic at hand, and NOT attempt to hi-jack the thread and discuss OTHER topics.

Further.....your ridiculous and arrogant reply calling $902,000 "piddly crap" leads me to suspect that you are either "very rich", or else just extremely rude. (If I was a betting man, I would probably "bet" on the latter.)

And lastly......no, you don't need my "permission" for anything,.... however, I hardly see what "my permission" has to do with you trying to hi-jack the thread, counter to the forum rules. ( May I suggest that you go back and "review" the rules, assuming of course that you already read them previously.)
