Foreign Body uses tree to supply life

Happen to look up today while taking photos today . And noticed this foreign body growing on the side of this tree . I just had to take a photo of it and share . I liked the multi colors , the depth it shows , and texture . Feel free to leave your opinion .

Well, knowing where Jamestown is (a Yinzer myself) that would be known as 'Punk'. It is a fungus that grows on the sides of trees (commonly in Western PA, don't know about elsewhere) and we used to use dry punk to light our fireworks with. You would light the dried punk, which would keep an ember for hours upon hours. Therefore you could set off those Ohio purchased firecrackers in Conneaut Lake, PA

This photo was entered into the texture contest and was removed . I was told it didn't meet with the texture rules. I looked at all the photos accepted and see no difference .
