I'm spending the week with family along the Atlantic coast of Delaware. We had some beautiful light this afternoon as the sun went down and I took advantage of it to take a few pictures of Sanderlings feeding on the beach. I have also included two pictures I took yesterday morning which was a dull, gray, foggy morning. You can see the dramatic difference the quality of the light makes. Yesterday's pictures could just as well have been taken in black and white.
I frequently harp on hoggers to get down low, if possible, to get at eye level with the birds for better photos. I have included some from the standing, kneeling and lying down positions. Can you tell which is which?
Finally, I had a Juvenile Laughing gull land right in front of me while I was laying on the sand, blocking my view of the Sanderling. It was almost as if he wanted to pose for me!
Standing, kneeling or laying down?

Sanderling in dull, gray, early morning light
Willet in dull, morning light.
Laughing gull at 100mm! Slightly cropped to straighten the horizon.
Laughing Gull at 400mm, uncropped!
Wonderful pics. Great light indeed on the second day. Especially love #1.
