Would a full frame lens crop on the d 7000? I'm asking because I'm not a photography genius, so be kind work your remarks. I'm in the process of learning.

Yes.
Full frame lenses need cover a larger sensor area.
If you put the same focal length crop lens (DX) as a full-frame lens (FX) you still get the same image.
As an example: Nikon makes a 35mm DX and 35mm FX lens. You will get the same image with either lens on your D7000.

Here is an example with two 50mm lenses; one a DX zoom lens at 50mm, the other a full frame (FX) 50mm and on the bottom, a 50mm lens on a full frame camera:

I used a 28-300mm (an fx lens) on my D7000 before I bought my D800. It's one good reason to buy fx lenses if you have a crop camera....one day you may purchase an fx camera.

This Nikon lens simulator is fun to play with. Be patient while it loads.

The problems come when you go the other way. A crop lens on a full frame camera. The crop lens will not fill the full frame's sensor. - Dave

With some DX zooms, at the longer focal lengths, you get full coverage on a full frame camera, thought it's probably not ideal. (With Nikon full frame cameras, you have the option to shoot in DX mode, but you do lose resolution.) With the 17-55 2.8 DX, it starts to cover a full frame sensor at about 24mm, if I remember correctly.
Here is the Sigma 50-150 DX I used above at 50mm on a full-frame camera in the full frame mode
(DX mode would look like the samples above):

Thanks. It's a fairly low-end Felt F-85. I think it's better than any of the bikes I raced with in the 80's (Team Raleigh, Alan, Viner) and less expensive -right at a grand. I love it.

I used to ride a bike around here, but I decided it was too dangerous on the two-lane 55 mph highway. People do it every day, but it's not for me.

That's an interesting stand you have.

Easier if you go the speed of traffic...
That's why I stay on slower roads.

Here's the stand:

Back to photography- I shot these tests earlier using wider lenses and the marked focal lengths showed more variance.(?) For example, I did a test at 12mm using a 10-20 DX and a 12-24 FX lens and at 12mm, there was a noticeable difference between the two. Metadata showed 12mm on both, but the angle of view, though close, was obviously different. At that focal length, being off by even one millimeter would make a bigger difference than one millimeter at 50mm. Just an observation.
