here are a few I have taken lately,,let me know what you think, am up for any helpful tips, am very new at this

Love the pictures. I want to be there! JMHO but the contrast seems a little off.
I just downloaded GIMP a real cool program. Good Luck... Great pictures otherwise.

I think what you were missing was a sunny day, For example, these two shots were taken two days apart. One on a cloudy day, the other, sun. If you live nearby, try again on a sunny day.

This is a lovely photo! I would suggest instead of cropping it, you might clone out the wire and save the water in the foreground. I think the water really makes the photo.
