i,ve been waiting all summer for this fella to arrive i shall now die a happy man as this is my 1st ever kingfisher hope you all like them , jimmy

Very nice. If I were that Kingfisher I wouldn't be bragging about the size of that catch. LOL

Well done, Jimmy! I especially like the first composition. Tell us how you did I it. Not just the camera settings but how you approached the bird' etc.

i had heard i was in the area it travels from a nearby river there is only 4 branches it can sit on to fish from so i sat and sucked my teeth untill it showed camera was iso 4oo. f8 as i remember sun was also setting so some pic.s are at 800 iso . thanks jimmy

Great shots. If yours are anything like the ones we have here they are very skittish, taking off as soon as you come close to getting within shooting range. What lens were you using? It's a good advert for it.

thanks straight shooter i used a sony 70/400mm mark 2 zoom lens on my sony a77. they must be different here it was happy to pose for about 30mins before flying off and returning about 20mins later for a bit more fishing , jimmy

Fabulous!! I am so very jealous. I've been sitting in my blind a little for the past few days and so far my kingfishers have not landed on the perch while I'm there. I've seen them though so I know they are around. Sooner or later! Just hope I can do as great a job as you have done.

thanks very much pixelpixie88 just keep putting the time in and you will get your pic the worst part is when they arrive blind panic hits you and you cant stop shaking ha ha, jimmy look forward to seeing your pics ,
