If you don't speak Japanese just turn the sound off and read the sub-titles.

I love the concept but as I watched I had all kinds of questions like: how much electricity does it take to melt the plastic to release the gas? Does that degate the save of the oil, since most likely oil was used to make the electricity?

Yes, I have similar questions. I have seen a lot of promising technology go down the drain when it came to up scaling to full production. Maybe this will work given time and resources. Sometimes I think that the worst thing that was ever invented was plastic. The world is choking on it. There is a huge dead spot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that is a mass of floating plastic discards.

It is probably more efficient on a larger scale and a potential money maker with the right end market.

Yes, I think a regional program might work. The email I got today with this same link talked lies about how all households in Japan were being required to have one of these. Yeah, right!

I have to wonder how much oil the Plastic Island in the ocean could produce, then there are all the trash barges we sell to other countries and the dumps...

At least this guy has a solution, even if on a small scale. Makes one wonder why we still need to separate the various plastics, if such a machine can produce oil - even in small quantities?

How cool would that be? Go to the Recycling center, deposit your plastics and watch a bottle fill with oil. Heating oil, cooking oil, oil for your car. Wow!

Unfortunately someone (business) with $$$$$$$$$$$ that stands to lose $$$$$$$$$$$ will go to any length to make any trace of it disappear.
