Today I recieved some attachments for my Canon SX50. These new items were sold as one package for the Canon SX50 off Ebay for $17.99. This included the....
Adapter Ring
58mm CPL Filter
58mm Ultra Violet (UV) Lens Filter
58mm Center Pinch Lens Cap
Universal 58mm Camera Lens Hood
I am still a novice when it comes to attachments for my fairly new camera and am so afraid I am going to damage it when putting the filter on...Anyway my question probably is silly one but can I use the hood along with the filter, or do I just use the filter by itself.
Also what is the difference in using the hood compared to say using the UV or Polorized filter. I know the UV filter is good for eliminating the blue cast cause by snow and should probably use this one in the winter.
Thanks Lori
You can use the hood with the filters, even the CPL. Just rotate the hood to rotate the CPL filter.

I recently did the same for my nikon p510. I have a few filters i have tried. I just try different ones in each setting anx see how it looks. I mainly got them to protect the camera lense. On Another note are the broncos going to have another good season? I really hope so.

High Lori! Late to the party on this one.:) Just throw away the UV filter. If the whole thing cost you only $17.99 The glass will probably hurt your shots. And I would try the CPL too. Make sure it doesn't hurt you quality. The sensors on the digitals now do not need a UV filter. It already has one covering it. If you want to protect your lens, use the hood or go out and get a very good clear filter.
I never run with a filter on any of my lenses. Just the hood.

Thanks MT Shooter, Ok I was playing around with it and finally got it on. It just barely fits on, is that what it does. I am just trying to be very careful until I got used to it

Thanks Racin17, I will check out the different filters over the next few day until I get used to them and see how the photo's turn out.

Thanks Erv, I was just looking for something to cut back on the glare in some of my photo's.
With that package, put the adapter on the lens (tight fit so it won't easily fall off). Then put the Hood or CPL filter on when you need them. The hood should always be mounted LAST. If you put the CPL on, put it directly onto the adapter, then add the hood.
You can leave the hood attached all the time which will give extra protection, and use that lens cap attached to the hood.

If you are talking about how the adapter fits----It fits good and tight. It locks in the counter clockwise direction.
