Sorry, I was taught a long time ago. When you leave you car, lock it. This is just a new technique but cars at gas stations have been targeted for years. You can't even leave your car unlocked in your own neighborhood so why would you just leave it unlocked with your purse unattended at a GAS STATION? Now, that's just dumb.

I keep all of my doors locked all the time. I even have the driver door locked when I am pumping my gas. Too many shady characters lurking around these days.

Hell, if they put half the effort into an honest days work as they put into their wasted lives.....

I'd love to catch one of these punks in the act. I'd love to body slam the door on them as they were half in or out of either car. Make them think twice about doing it again.

Another thing crooks do! Many years ago I would travel between Tucson and El Paso and have to stop for gas somewhere between. At the time I was using a F250 and the gas stations would require you to prepay. I put a $100 to pump 30-40 gals of gas. One time while pumping a person approached me and asked if I could give him a jump. I agreed but I was gong to complete my business with the gas station before helping him. He was very adamant, for me to do it right away. I refused, I was going to complete my transaction.
While standing in line waiting my turn, someone, two people front of me, and I heard it, requested my pump number. When I was about to speak up, I saw the guy who was adamant about me jumping him immediately through the window waving frantically to someone inside and all of a sudden, the person inside said cancel that and give him a pack of gum.
It was just under $60 change I got back from my transaction.
At the immediate time I didn't think about it too much and when I got outside I approached the character and said I was ready to give him the jump. Miraculously, he no longer needed it and I went on my way. After driving a few miles and mulling the event over, then the light went on as to the scam.

Live and learn. There are so many scammers out there and the internet is rife with them. Not a day goes by that I don't receive something in my email. I never open them just forward them to the us Govt anti phishing unit, scams international and if any other companies are mentioned in the email, like Western Union, DHL, American Express, UPS, Paypal, various banks, I forward the email to their security (spoof) addresses. Also, if it comes out of the British Isles, I send it to UK Fraud (Scotland Yard). A lot has been coming out of Africa these days.
