First, I'll start by saying I like #1 the best.
Secondly, I will say - OK I'm stumped. You asked Ray was what different about #2 from the others. Could it be that #2 is sharper, or less grain in the photo?
I'm asking because I am new at this, and wanting to learn as much as I can.
Help me please!
Although, I liked #1 best, they are all great. I am assuming these are current pics made to look older, or are they really old?
Linda
I love all three, but if I had to pick one, it would be two. Great work!

No, none of the images are old. My goal was to make each one appear old......and if you had to ask, I'm taking that as a compliment!

Linda, if you look closely at #2 you will see a pocket knife that is different on that photo. It was attached to his belt and hanging down, but I took it off. Look for the missing knife!
Brent
I feel the first one doesn't get the 'old' feel right because of the two different colours in the wood and because of the slightly excessive contrast in his face.
The second one has it but I think the inside border detracts from the lovely look of the wood and the blown-out white on the left is a major distraction too.
Would you mind if I have a go at an edit? All in all I think the photo's a beauty. Pappy looks great and that wood's a perfect setting for him.
Mike.
I've had a go Brent. Got what I had in mind but I discover there's a lot of detail in the shirtsleeves. Problem there is that while it's shadow in the folds, as you'd expect it to be, it's the wrong colour and I don't know how to change it. Was the photo originally in browns or did you change that? Got me beat. I can show you if you like. There's no detail in the blown white on the left of the cabin.
Mike.
I really like the second one ....but like the simplicity of the frame of the third one better than the white vignette ...great photo..what effect did you use on the second one?
