New Tamron 18-270, older Tamron or Sony 18-200

I'm an amateur landscape photographer and have a Sony A65 coming in today. I like the concept of a 18-270 wide to telephoto lens. Reviews on the new Tamron with PZ drive seem good. Anyone have comparative experience with the Tamrons and/or the Sony lens?

I own the Sony A77 and the Tamron 18-270 it is a great camera and a so so lens. If I could make a suggestion, since you do landscape why not go for the Tamron 17-50mm it is a better lens I also have the 10-24mm lens which is great. The larger barrel of the 18-270 seems cheap build and it gives average pictures.

The Tamron 18-270 PZD is the lens that stays on my Nikon D3100 and I have no complaints about the photos they produce. I shoot alot of baseball, landscapes and florals. This lens and a Nikon fixed 50mm 1.4 are the only 2 lenses I carry in my bag. If you would like to see any of my shots feel free to ask................

I have the previous version of the Tamron 18-270 (does not have the PZ drive) and I love it; it is on my camera 90% of the time. A real go to lens.
