I think you will be saturated with info coming out of that class. I would recommend looking at training videos on YouTube and Adobe TV or paying for online training at Lynda.com and kelbytraining.com. Arnold

I have to agree with Arnold. I think you money would be better spent with the online training classes. That way you can watch them over and over again. Personally for someone that is just getting started in PSCS5, 8 hours of classroom instruction is a bit much. There is the old saying that your brain can only comprehend as much as your butt can withstand. LOL!!!

A few years ago, I took a couple of online classes through the local community college. What surprised me was that the students were from all over the country. Apparently, colleges buy into an online instruction service, and they offer it to their local people and get a part of the tuition. The courses were run live, so we could ask the instructor questions - better than watching a video.
Of couse, many online courses are either free or very inexpensive.
I am taking an online class with ED2Go on CS5 its 12 lessons and then a final exam, it costs $99 and is over a 6 week period, I tried watching videos but you have to weed through all the junk, waste lots of hours. I am on the last lesson and I actually have a clue how to use PS. It follows steps on how to do things so you learn how to do this first so your can do this next. Makes more sense than hunting for answers.

My experience has been that these community college classes are a waste of time and money. I am going to stick with books and online video tutorials. However, if you check out the instructor and find that they are very knowledgable and experienced, it might be different. My experience has been that the college contracts with a photographer that actually doesn't know that much about photoshop.
sorry you feel that way Nick, I feel totally differant I was so lost trying to watch videos and bought a book by Scott Kelby on CS5 but couldn't wrap my head around it, until i took the class online
