Just wondering if anyone has any inside information as to any possible update to the AF-S 300F/4ED-IF or any other tele-zooms coming out in that price range.
It seems the 300f/4 is way overdue for a VR update or possibly a 150-350mm F/4ED-IF AF-S VR II?.
Also if anyone know's what time of year these announcement's usually happen?.
Mahalo for any INFO and Aloha

No idea on this one, but take a good look at the Nikon ED AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm 1:3.5-5.6 G VR II. I bought one in August and am VERY impressed with this lense for under $1000. On my F5 its impressive, but on my D7000 its AMAZING because the effective zoom is about 42mm - 460 mm. VERY sharp glass, and it takes a 77mm filter, same as all my other lenses except for my 105mm 1:2.8 Micro Nikkor and my 24-120mm VR II wich is 72mm but I leave a step-up ring on it all the time for filter use. I had a 300mm F4 MANY years ago that fell victim to a car crash while on my F4S, sad to say the wreck was terminal to them both at the time, just never replaced the 300 until this year because I also had a Tokina AT-X PRO 100mm-300mm F4 zoom that was somewhat more versatile on my F5, but it does not balance well when handheld on the D7000, even though it works beautifully and still produces some amazing shots! I usually use it with a tripod these days.
Hope this helps.
It may be awhile as they have serious problems with product these days, Thailand is still pretty much underwater, let alone re-building in Japan.
The 300 edif af is one of the best current lenses I use. I have had it for over 20 years and is sharp as a tack in digital. My price then was about $800 and it's big brother the f:2.8 was about twice that. I see no disadvantage for a full stop faster lens at the inflated price, not to mention the bigger lens shades and filter costs. I do not know today's pricing.
