Hi everyone! My name is Lori Zurfluh DeGarmo. I have always enjoyed photography, starting out with a little brownie camera as a kid. I've never owned a "good" camera, but that didn't stop me from taking pictures! Anyway, all I've got now is a Kodak EasyShare C340, but I've managed to get some fairly good shots with it (I think?). I'd like to post a few and see what folks think. Also, I'd love to graduate to a better camera some time soon & would love advice on what to get when I'm ready.

Was "out on a limb" to get this shot!

I like the turtle the best - light may be a little harsh, but nice framing & colors. Both of the ducks seem to lack some sharpness, but again you have a nice perspective. Nice to see you get down to their level - makes for a warmer photo. #1 to me is somewhat confusing, I understand this is a fallen tree laying down towards the water but I see where it could be or is a reflection. The focus seems very good. Thanks for sharing. I have added one that is all togather different, but then I often do that. Thanks for sharing.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your comments. The thing about #1 that I actually like about it is the confusion it causes (haha!). Your photo is gorgeous. Where was it taken? Do you have any more from the same site? I'd love to see them. Oh, the turtle was a very interesting fellow. I didn't realize it was a turtle at first because his head was not out. After very gently tapping his shell, he came out to see what was going on. He eventually stretched his neck out too I'll attach that photo, although I don't think it's very good photographically speaking. Thanks again.

That turtle almost looks like he/she is resting it's head on the rock - kinda of a like a dog will stick it's jaw on a table. Love the texture on it's shell. I'm going to take a few minutes and see if I can't adjust the saturation to try to pull it out. As to the picture I have a boat load of church pictures, The previous one and this one I took just a week ago in Washington at the National Basillca. I have not looked at most of them yet but here is one from a side aisle.

I love your first photo as well as the bad pun. Note that it is not the camera that makes a great photo it is the photographer Ansel Adams with an instamatic will take better photos than a talentless hack with a nikon d-3. the best tool you have to improve your photos is located between your ears.. By the way i forget which beer comes from latrobe, iron city or yingling?

Hi, Sinatraman! I love Sinatra too. My husband & I are both singers. The beer that was made in Latrobe was Rolling Rock, with the famous number "33" on the label; made from mountain spring water!! Unfortunately, it hasn't been made here in years--now Rolling Rock is made somewhere in NJ??? BTW, I live 3 blocks from the brewery. I think they're making some kind of microbrew now. At times you can smell the hops wafting thru the air. Thank you so much for your encouraging comments. It means a lot! :-D

@notnoBuddha--Wow! What a difference adjusting the saturation level made! It almost looks like another photo. What a gorgeous church. I'll have to check it out next time I visit my brother in that area. Did you have difficulty with lighting? BTW, I checked out your website. It's absolutely fantastic. I'll have to take more time to read all the interesting items you've got there. Like the music too--nice touch. Thanks again for your nice comments.

now I am seriously depressed. No more rolling rock in latrobe? I mean your town name sounds like you should have a brewery. now brewed in New Jersey? oh well next thing you gonna tell me is that budweiser is owned by the belgians.
