Hello uhhers,
I am curious to know if anyone has heard of the flying photo school. Its an online photo course that i have signed up for and will start in September. I'm new to photography and because of this site and my husband along with some really old NYIOP booklets have a fairly good understanding of photography basics. I bought the portrait photography course because from what i have learned here is that taking pictures of flowers is one thing taking pics of friends and people is a COMPLETELY different story. I guess my point to this post is did i just waste $$ should I not be as excited as i am because its not going to be any good? Or has someone here had or known someone who has had success with this school? Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you so much! However, now I'm even more nervous lol. :) The price was right and online is the ONLY way i can go ( I have 3 under the age of 5) so i guess i'll just suck it up and deal with whatever comes my way in September! Does anyone know a GOOD online course to suggest for me?

I took two of the classes, I believe it was 101 & 102, within a couple months of me getting my D5100. I enjoyed the instruction and found the material to be helpful but again I was a bit green when it came to the anything beyond point and shoot. Between the videos presentation and reading materials, I would probably say the four week lessons would probably take you no more than 30 minutes, so time wise it was good for me. I do agree that their online price is overvalued but overall I learned something and that in itself was priceless. Enjoy!

You are welcome and they show up on Groupn periodically just in case you didn't know and wish to take additional classes.

There are many online classes available. If you go on youtube, you will find many there. Some are excellent, but of course the good ones are not cheap.
There are also many on youtube that are free and you can learn quite a bit from those. You have to do some searching, but the content is there. Just put in your camera and do a search. Good luck!

I must really be dumb. I really thought it might be a course on how to take pictures from a small plane or helicopter. Naw, thanks anyway; I'll pass.

I thought the same thing until I read up on it. The name is rather deceptive but I don't know if that is by design or if it is just something they pulled out of thin air.

With three kids under the age of five maybe the course will teach children's portraiture. You could then specialize in kid's photography and make tons of money.
