Very nice photos -- I'd never known of that bird before and I'm glad you posted them. Thanks

I have never seen that bird before. Amazing sharpness and detail and that from a PS camera. I assume the Panasonic camera has the Leica lens to justify that.

You assume correctly but considering how many Panasonic cameras are on the market I really do not think Leica has anything to do with it.Thank you.

This handsome creature is also known as Egyptian Vulture, White Scavenger Vulture and as mentioned Pharaoh`s Chicken. For a vulture the beak is surprisingly light duty.
Photos taken in Prague Zoo,Czech Republic with a pocket p&s Panasonic Zs7.I already run into some photographers who refused to believe the raptor looks that way,I was accused of heavy PP to mask the face.So here is a disclaimer: no PP involved, you are looking at the real thing.

Way cool shots, alaskan! When I used to fly gliders, I had a turkey vulture come within 5 feet of my canopy at about 4 thousand feet. It gave me a look I will never forget. It was telling me to get out of dodge, which I did because those things actually attack gliders if they feel you are in their territory! But it was neat to fly along one, even for a short while.
Raptors they are, and you caught that, in my book. Your shots brought me right back to that memory. Thanks!

Interesting story, kind of gives a new meaning to "soaring with eagles". Thank you, your comments are exactly what I am looking for.
