Being a track rider also it is a toss up between #2 and #3 but leaning toward #3 like the composition better.

Thanks a lot Hangman. I'll take that to be #3.

Just want to tell you why 3 appeals to me. #2 tells me there is a motorcycle race going on. In #3 this rider is "looking me in the face" and telling me HE is in this race heart, body and soul. He is determined to do it right. If I were looking for a race picture to hang on the wall, 3 is it.
(I've been riding 31 years. No racing)

Thank you my friend. Another one for #3 and a good reason why so.

I prefer #2 because it shows the competitiveness much better and is a good composition with a great sence of speed. Additionally, the first riders face is visible showing the intense concentration of the rider.

#3 has a lot going for it but it could have been taken at practice because there are no other riders in the frame.

Thank you. Amazing the number of people that have ridden or still ride. Thanks for the vote.

 This is true, a lot of people still ride. Some say they do, but only put in 125 miles in a day. I had an '84 Goldwing, had 3 miles on it when I bought it. When I sold it, 6 yrs 6 mos later, I didn't ride it much, I showed 147,283 miles on it.   Best Bike I ever owned, the most miles too. :D

Another rider checking in here. I prefer #2 becaure of the clear visor and the intensity of his focus in the eyes. TFS Cliff

The skills are what the riders posses. When it comes to depicting them in an art form the onus is on the one with a camera.
As a few have already heard some of us went to the track on the weekend to watch motorcycle racing. We were in awe as to the speed and skill required to race those rockets around a 2 1/2 mile track.
In this set I tried to depict speed, lean angles and intensity, focusing on individual bikes. Though my panning attempts looked decent on the LCD when at the track, they were anything but when I saw them on my home screen. So no panning shots in these four. I've had no practice doing this type of shooting so don't expect any Sports Illustrations candidates. I do have a favourite, however so I would like you to voice a choice to see if we're on the same page.
Thanks for riding along.

I'll join the rest with no. 3. He's not paying attention to you like one of the guys in the fourth. One and two you don't get quite the impression of speed as shows up in 3. Just my opinion.

I really, really like #3. It's a fantastic catch and represents well the intensity of this activity. However, I like #2 best for an image of motorcycle racing. It shows the "chase". I've never raced, but I still ride, been doing so for about 46 years now.

For sheer photographic reasons, the comp, DOF, the position of the rider, I like #3 a lot. But for the idea of capturing a race, then my hatÂ’s off for #2. All the elements are there and it leaves no doubt that a race is in progress. Good shots, Joe.
